Al-Rahad, February 09 (Darfur24)
Dozens of civilians, including displaced families, were killed in drone strikes targeting vehicles carrying displaced people, commercial goods, and humanitarian aid in the city of Al-Rahad Abu Dakna in North Kordofan State, according to local sources.
Sources told Darfur24 that drones believed to belong to the Rapid Support Forces struck a truck transporting displaced civilians toward the city on Tuesday, killing more than 20 people, including women and children. The victims were fleeing fighting in parts of South Kordofan when the vehicle was hit near one of the city’s entrances.
In a related development, residents reported renewed drone activity on Wednesday morning, with strikes targeting commercial trucks loaded with food supplies inside Al-Rahad Abu Dakna, causing additional casualties and material losses.
Drones also hit trucks carrying World Food Programme aid in the Allah Karim area east of the city, killing at least two people, injuring others, and destroying part of the assistance intended for displaced and vulnerable families.
Al-Rahad Abu Dakna’s humanitarian aid coordinator accused the Rapid Support Forces of carrying out the attacks, saying a strike at the city entrance killed 24 displaced civilians arriving from the Dabiker area of South Kordofan.
The coordinator warned of a sharp deterioration in the humanitarian and security situation, stressing that targeting displaced civilians and supply convoys threatens relief efforts. He called for the protection of civilians, safe passage for humanitarian aid, and an urgent investigation into the incidents.
