Mustariha, March 03 (Darfur24)

At least 815 people were displaced from Mustariha town in Kabkabiya locality, North Darfur, on February 27 and 28 following escalating violence and an attack by the Rapid Support Forces, according to field teams from the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM).

The assault targeted the area, known as a stronghold of Musa Hilal, leader of the Mahamid clan and commander of the Revolutionary Awakening Council. The fighting left several people dead and injured, including Hilal’s son, while Hilal reportedly fled to areas under the control of the Sudanese army.

According to a recent DTM report, those displaced have dispersed across locations in Kabkabiya, Al-Sereif and Sarf Omra localities in North Darfur, amid what it described as tense and rapidly evolving conditions.

Field teams said they are continuing to monitor developments and will provide further updates on displacement movements in North Darfur and other parts of Sudan.

Local sources told Darfur24 that dozens of people fleeing Mustariha arrived on foot in Kabkabiya last week, following clashes between the Revolutionary Awakening Council and the RSF.

The RSF later took full control of the Badia Mustariha area after intense fighting in the final week of February.
