July 19, 2020 (Khartoum) The Sudanese Journalists Network(SJN) has criticized the army’s move to file complaints  against activists, media outlets, and others, inside and outside Sudan, under the pretext
of offending the Sudanese army..

“The army statement represents a dangerous trend to undermine freedom of expression and a threat to opinion-holders” SJN said in a statement..

The Sudanese armed forces(SAF) issued a statement yesterday, in whichthey referred  to  appointment of   representative for the office of the commander in chief and an officer specializing in informatics crimes, with a legal team to file cases and follow up the complaints.

SJN underscored that   the state of law is built on democratic laws and  national institutions that  the army is  not exempted from accepting opinion of others.

The Sudanese Journalists Network announced that it will follow up the legal procedures with regard to the  armed forces’ statement , and will also  seek with all supporting bodies to clarify the measures
taken and announce them to the public opinion, confirming that it will seek to form political and legal bodies to defend freedom of expression.
