September 1, 2020 (Khartoum) Director General of the Public Corporation for Radio and Television, Luqman Ahmed, revealed that Sudan TV had been subjected to a major Subversive   operation during
the period between ten o’clock on Sunday evening and 7:30  on  Monday morning , that was, on the eve of television preparing to broadcast the signing ceremony of the peace agreement in Juba, the capital of
the State of South Sudan.

Luqman  announced that the TV administration has taken a number of administrative measures to confront the incident, and has also filed a criminal complain at Omdurman police, stressing that the Criminal
Investigation Department is conducting intensive investigations about the incident.

In a statement this evening, seen by Darfur 24, Ahmed said that the sabotage operation consisted in pulling six reception panels, distributing and transmitting the image and sound from the TV’s main
control room, which paralyzed and destroyed the TV’s ability to receive, distribute and transmit image and sound.

Luqman pointed out that the television and information technology engineers have made tremendous efforts to first come up with alternative panels that have been installed and try to revive the control room, and they were able to accomplish this prior to the start of the signing ceremony of the peace agreement in Juba.

Luqman disclosed that the value of the withdrawn panels is fifteen thousand dollars, which are not sellable because they are suitable for work only in the main control room of Sudan TV.

This theft operation comes about 7 months after the issuance of a decree  by the Prime Minister, Dr. Abdullah Hamdok, and based on the recommendation of the Minister of Culture and Information Faisal
Muhammad Salih, to appoint Luqman, born in Al-Malam, South Darfur state as Director General of Sudan Public Corporation for Radio and Television.
