The governor of East Darfur state Mohamed Issa  Aliyou, has declared a state of emergency and imposed a 48-hour curfew   in El-Daen the state  capital  ,as protests get out  of control.

Eyewitnesses told Darfur24 that a big number of students had taken to the streets in the State capital El-Daen on Wednesday, protesting against  increase  in the price of bread where they were later joined by citizens.

However, eyewitnesses indicated that the protesters burned tires on the main roads, before the demonstration turned into a major security chaos, and a number of government institutions were  burned and property destroyed.

Plumes of smoke were seen in separate places in the city, where the offices of the Zakat Bureau were burned, and the Diwan stores were attacked and looted, and drug stores north of the railway that supplied the city’s pharmacies with medicines were looted.
