Darfur 24-Khartoum

 Chairman of the Sudan Liberation Army  Mini Arko Minawi told  Darfur 24 that the parties to the peace process had begun  formation of  the joint national force in preparation for its deployment in the Darfur region in as stipulated IN  Juba Agreement. 

The agreement signed between the Revolutionary Front and the transitional government last October in Juba stipulated the formation of a force of 12,000 soldiers from the regular forces and the armed struggle  movements to protect civilians in Darfur. 

“We will start with what is available, provided that the Ministry of Finance is committed to allocating the budget of the force stipulated in the agreement,” Minawi said

“The Sudan Liberation Movement will initially send 3 battalions” Minawi added .

 The past days have witnessed shuttle meetings between the parties to Juba Peace and the military latency in the transitional government, following the deterioration of the security situation in El Geneina, West Darfur.
