Darfur24-El-Geneina

Darfur 24 has obtained a document containing directives for a security plan and stability in El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur, following the bloody tribal clashes in the city last week.

The document was issued after a surprise visit by Chairman of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, to El Geneina on Monday and Tuesday.

Recently, the city of El Geneina witnessed renewed armed confrontations between the Arab and Masalit tribes for the second time during this year, in which more than 130 people were killed and scores wounded.

The document stipulated review of the security plan in city of El Geneina, use of deterrent force against outlaws as well as digging a trench around the city to control the movement.

It also stipulated the removal of the affiliates of the armed movements from the Sultan’s house and the city of El Geneina, and the prevention of the movement’s members from wearing military uniforms within the state, in addition to the evacuation of the guesthouse from the Rapid Support Forces, and the formation of joint forces to guard it.

The document also stipulated that members of the regular forces involved in the recent clashes be referred to justice, and government forces vehicles are prohibited from moving inside neighborhoods and markets, except for official duties.
