15.11.2021 (El-Geniena) Over 1,214 cases of scabies have been reported in murti, 80 kilometers south of Geneina, the Department of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Health said in a special statement to Darfur 24.
Dr. Khadija Taher, director of the Department of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Health in Western Darfur, told Darfur 24 that she had trusted a delegation from the Ministry of Health to find out about the reality of scabies. “We have confirmed that there are more than 1,214 cases of scabies and that more than 100 cases a day are increasing in a frightening way,” she said.
Organizations working on the health side called for urgent intervention to contain the disease and expressed fear of cases in other areas.
She noted that the intervention of the Ministry of Health was to provide quantities of treatment and awareness campaigns on environmental health, and said that the ministry has kept a full medical staff in order to carry out therapeutic operations and awareness.
