Nyala, March 16( Darfur24) Hundreds of school students in the city of Nyala, capital of South Darfur, western Sudan, took part in demonstrations this morning, Wednesday and for the fourth day in a row, to protest against the increase in the tariff of transportation and bread.

The Darfur 24 reporter saw large numbers of students entering the central Nyala market, forcing the security forces to fire tear gas heavily to disperse them.

The police deployed dozens of four-wheel-defense vehicles in the market and the main road to deal with the demonstrators

Yesterday, demonstrators burned the outer wall of the home of the governor of South Darfur, overlooking the “Berley” valley, and looted and destroyed some of the house’s items.

The security forces are trying to prevent protesters from entering the market to prevent a repetition of last year’s incident when a number of shops were looted and a police car was burned..
