Nyala, April 25 (Darfur24)The city of El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur state, witnessed violent armed clashes this Tuesday morning  in the vicinity of customs premises  and the neighborhoods of  Aljabal and near the headquarters of the rapid support Forces RSF.

Darfur24 reporter from El Geneina said that preliminary information indicates clashes between the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese coalition forces, and heavy weapons and artillery have been used.

The authorities in El Geneina locality had earlier  issued a local order to close the city’s markets as a precaution against the shifting  of the repercussions of the events of the city of Kirenik to the state capital El Geneina.

Inter-communal violence shifted since Sunday from Kirenik locality, 80 km east of the city of El Geneina, to the state capital, where clashes took place yesterday evening, Sunday, between a force of the Sudanese coalition movement and the Rapid Support Forces responsible for guarding El Geneina Hospital.

Commander of the Sudanese coalition in the state, Gedo, said that his movement’s forces clashed with the Rapid Support Forces, left two dead from his forces and a number of wounded.

Jedo explained that members of his movement came to the hospital to visit injured members of the movement in a traffic accident that occurred in the Mister area, but they were surprised by the Rapid Support Forces’ refusal to enter them.

He stated that the movement’s forces were unable to bury their dead on the same night, and when they went to the cemeteries this morning, the Rapid Support Forces launched a new attack on them, and he said so far the battle is ongoing.
