El-Fashir, June 17(Darfur24) Journalists and a number of attendees at
a press conference held by the governor of North Darfur denounced the
manner in which the state police director, Major General Nasr El-Din
Saleh Abdel Rahman, spoke with journalist Zamzam Khater, a matter that
considered by observers   as a threat and an extension of the
repressive behavior against journalists.

Journalist Zamzam Khater told Darfur 24 that the state police director
spoke to her in a sharp and threatening tone because of what she
quoted from military leaders that policemen were arrested within an
armed gang on the Al-Fasher-Kotm road, speaking in a threatening tone
and verbal violence.

The police director’s speech with the journalist was in presence  of
a number of journalists, citizens and the state security committee
during the press conference of the Governor of North Darfur, Nimr
Abdel Rahman, after his return from Khartoum.

Journalist Zamzam Khater published, quoting military leaders, stating
that two anti-drug police officers and a citizen had been arrested for
looting citizens, in possession of weapons and a small “Avante”
vehicle.
