Khartoum, September 7(Darfur24) The United Nations revealed, on Wednesday, that about 177,000 people fled their homes as a result of the armed conflict in a number of states of Sudan.

According to an OCHA report, from January to August 2022, the conflict forced more than 177,000 people to flee their homes in the states of Blue Nile, Central Darfur, East Darfur, North Kordofan, South Darfur and West Darfur, while 377 people were killed and 431 injured.

 The report added, the largest number of displaced people was in the Blue Nile, when a new wave of inter-tribal conflict erupted in July.

 UN OCHA explained that 224 security incidents due to local conflict and armed attacks were reported across the country, including 26 incidents in August.

 According to the government’s Humanitarian Aid Commission HAC, heavy rains and flash floods have affected about 258,000 people, according to UNHCR, humanitarian organizations on the ground and local authorities.

The rains and floods destroyed at least 16,400 homes and damaged another 42,200 in 16 out of 18 states..

The National Civil Defense Council reported that 112 people have been killed and more than 115 injured since the start of the rainy season in June.

Floods and heavy rains affect the education of an estimated 140,000 children while some 400 schools have been confirmed damaged or destroyed in 11 states across Sudan, with another 200 schools reported damaged and require assessment
