Nyala, September 3 (Darfur 24)Residents of Nyala, the provincial capital of South Darfur state said Sudanese military aircrafts shelled Sunday afternoon many locations in the city, leaving 14 residents dead, but Darfur24 could not contact official sources to verify the actual death toll.

Social media platforms activists quoted Nyala residents as saying that it was the first time that military aircrafts bombarded the city of Nyala, since eruption of the conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces RSF, targeting locations in the neighborhoods of Al Sadalali and Almatar.

Local residents who spoke to Darfur24 correspondent, said they contacted their relatives via SMS messages, due to interruption of communication services in the city for weeks, whereby they said the bombardment targeted residential areas of Almatar, Almasanie, Alsad Al Aly as well as Almalaja market and the police force headquarters which is located in RSF area of jurisdiction..

The Ariel strike on Nyala today comes at the backdrop of a relative calm in the city ,since the recent bloody clashes in the surrounding of the 16 army division headquarters, where RSF had attempted to capture it

The city of Nyala has been without communication network services for three weeks, contact with residents in the city is only via SMS messages service provided by MTN communication company.
