Balila , October 30 (Darfur 24) The Rapid Support Forces (RSF)said on Monday that they had seized the airport in the “Balila” area in West Kordofan State, in addition to military equipment from the armed forces.
The Office of RSF Official Spokesman stated that the forces also seized 15 military vehicles, including 11 Dushka vehicles and 4 dual artillery, and burned 3 tanks, and large quantities of weapons and ammunition.
For its part, the Sudanese armed forces did not comment on RSF allegations of controlling Balila Airport, while the RSF soldiers led by Hussein Barsham posted videod from inside the airport after they took control of it.
He said o”n behalf of RSF I announce the seizure of Balila Airport by our brave soldiers, the government transformed the airport from an airport serving oil companies, into a military airport to strike cities, destroy infrastructure, and kill innocent civilians”.
The Sudanese Armed Forces have been using Balila Airport in recent days to carry out air strikes to support its forces fighting the Rapid Support Forces in a number of Darfur cities.
Air strikes carried out by warplanes from Balila airport led to dozens of civilian deaths in Darfur states.
