Rabak, April 21(Darfur 24)
The army’s military intelligence continued its campaign of arresting anti-war political forces, arresting three members of the National Umma Party.

The army continued to tighten its noose and arrest members of the political forces calling for a peaceful end to the conflict and activists in the humanitarian field, without bringing charges against them, and it was customary to release them after a period of detention.

The National Umma Party said, in a statement obtained by Darfur 24, on Saturday: The day before yesterday, Thursday, a military intelligence force in Kenana arrested the Secretary of the Organization, Al-Sadiq Adam, the Executive Director of the Ansar Affairs Authority, Younis Muhammad, and Awad Al-Sadiq Kabbashi.

She indicated that Al-Hadi Party member Hussein Tayeb Al-Asmaa remains in intelligence detention for more than three months.

The party affirmed its rejection of all arrest campaigns that it blamed on members of the regime, especially in light of the critical economic situation where all detainees support families.

He stressed that these arrests are “political and carried out randomly and are not based on valid foundations, as no charges were brought against them,” explaining that the cadres of the Umma Party and the Ansar entity are more committed to the party’s line of rejecting the war without engaging in activities that criminalize them.

He continued: “The declared position of the Umma Party, which is consistent with the position of all the people of the White Nile State, is to stop the war and support the professional armed forces, and we do not accept the bidding of the remnants of the former regime in this matter, which seek to stir up strife in the state and all of Sudan and drive a wedge between the army and the authentic national components.”

The National Umma Party called for the release of its arrested cadres and a reconsideration of the ongoing targeting campaigns, stressing that it does not mind bringing anyone under any suspicion to a fair trial, but it rejects illegal detention.
