On Saturday, the army announced that it had confronted three drones that targeted Merowe Airport in the northern state of northern Sudan.

The 19th Infantry Division, Marawi, said on Thursday that it had spotted three reconnaissance drones from the base of the Umm Bakool area, which is about 70 kilometers from Marawi. They were dealt with with ground-based anti-aircraft guns and they fled.

The command the 19th Infantry Division of Marawi revealed that the enemy – in reference to the Rapid Support Forces – targeted Marawi Airport with three suicide marches at dawn on Saturday, which were successfully repelled by ground anti-aircraft guns and were shot down without loss of life and equipment.

It reassured the citizens of Marawi locality that it is fully prepared to deal with any emergency or any foreign objects in the skies of Marawi locality and the northern state in general.

On Tuesday, the army said that it had shot down two drones that targeted its base in the city of Shendi, in the Nile River state in northern Sudan.

There are fears of the increasing use of drones targeting military headquarters inside densely populated cities, after the Al-Baraa bin Malik Al-Ramadani Brigade’s Iftar breakfast in Atbara, in the north of the country, and the headquarters of the General Intelligence Service in Gedaref State, eastern Sudan, were targeted with drones.
