January 28, 2020 (Khartoum) -The Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Professor Yasser Abbas, and Foreign Minister, Asma Mohamed Abdallah, left for the American capital, Washington Monday, to continue talks over the Grand Renaissance Dam.
The meetings – on Tuesday and Wednesday – aim to reach a comprehensive agreement on filling and managing the Ethiopian Renaissance dam.
The three nations’ top diplomats and water ministers, as well as representatives from the US administration and the World Bank, will attend the meetings.
The committee meetings last January, regarding filling stages, retained volumes of water in the dam, reservoir operation alongside drought and its management as well as data exchange and coordination mechanisms of the Renaissance Dam were overshadowed by technical and legal variations .
