February 1, 2020. (Elfashir) –Residents  of the Abodlik area, 70 km southeast of Al-Fasher, North Darfur state, have expressed their fears of escalating conflicts over ownership of agricultural lands in the region.

One of the owners of agricultural lands in the Abodlik area, called Ibrahim Abdullah Mustafa, said that a dispute had occurred between the original owners of the land and   displaced people over ownership of agricultural lands.

Darfur24 has been unable to interview the displaced persons who are accused of occupying lands  belonging to the local host community.

Mustafa stated that  police arrested about 40 people, including  women and men, in connection with the land issue , but  they were later released and the issue is being investigated.

It is noteworthy that there were  similar land disputes in separate areas of the Darfur region that had claimed the lives of many citizens due their settlement’s delay.
