The Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC) has announced its clear rejection of the meeting of the President of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to FFC, the meeting constitutes a major transgression of the constitutional document, and casts a negative shadow on the political situation in the country.

Sudan’s leader General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan said Tuesday his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the previous day in Uganda was driven by his responsibility to protect the country’s national security.

“I took this step from the standpoint of my responsibility… to protect the national security of Sudan and achieve the supreme interests of the Sudanese people,” Burhan said in a statement after briefing Sudan’s ruling body about his meeting.

Al-burhan surprisingly met Netanyahu in the Ugandan city of Entebbe on Monday, and the two sides held joint discussions on the normalization of bilateral relations and Sudan’s permission for Israeli aircrafts to cross over Sudanese airspace during their trips to the United States of America and South America.

On Tuesday morning, the Central Council for FFC held a series of meetings with the Council of Ministers, the President of the Sovereign Council and its members to discuss the matter and its implications.

The forces for freedom and change said  in a   statement    extended to  Darfur 24,   that the ruling coalition  was not aware of the  meeting and had  not been consulted at any time earlier, saying that the meeting  was a breach to the constitutional document , and  casted a negative shadow on the political situation in the country.

“The constitutional document stipulates that foreign relations are prerogative of the executive authority, and therefore what happened was a major transgression, which we firmly and clearly reject” FFC statement said.

The ruling coalition stressed rejection of all forms of transgression of the constitutional document and the tasks and powers clearly stated therein, stressing that the Sudanese people are the guardians of their revolution and will work with all the determination to complete their tasks, regardless of  obstacles and crisis.
