February 14, 2020 (Al-geneina) The governor of West Darfur, Major General Rabie Abdullah Adam, has announced the arrest of 11 suspects involved in the incident of Krinding IDP camp.
The decision to apprehend the defendants was taken in accordance with the report of the investigation committee.
Rabie said in a press conference in El-Geneina city on Thursday that the security authorities are working to arrest those who destabilize security, stoke hatred, mobilize students, and cause riots.
Any person whose presence affects the security of the state, we will remove him outside the state,” said the governor, adding that the city of El Geneina is witnessing student demonstrations on an ongoing basis.
“There is a persistent movement to arrest the other defendants whose names were mentioned in the report” Added the governor.
” stressing that the security services identified three cases of rape, saying that society suffers a lot from such a phenomenon.
He confirmed that there is a girl who was raped in the Sirba locality, who is still being treated at the hospital. As for the return of the displaced to their homes in Krinding camp, he said the voluntary return has started.
The governor saidrevealed new attempts by the displaced to enter new government facilities, and said that there was an infringement on some institutions.
Darfur 24 had published three cases of rape in shelters and the rape of a 9-year-old girl in Sirba, 80 km north of El Geneina.
