April 25, 2020 (Khartoum) The Chinese government has called for the necessity of lifting the unilateral sanctions imposed on Sudan, and urged international financial institutions to show flexibility regarding Sudan’s debts and assistance.

However, the Central Bank of Sudan reminded the  US State of  Department to  honor its commitment issued in 2017 to lift economic sanctions on Khartoum.

For his part,  Bank of Sudan’s governor, Badr Al-Din Abdel Rahim Ibrahim, said that the bank had received a letter from the director of the penal office at the US State Department, through the Sudanese Foreign Ministry, stating that Washington was  committed  to lift  economic sanctions imposed  in 1997 and 2006.

Moreover, Sudan has been subjected since 1997 to economic and trade sanctions imposed by the successive American administrations. However, these sanctions have inflicted heavy economic and political losses on Sudan, exceeding $ 50 billion, but successive American administrations have been renewing these sanctions year after year, without giving any  considerations  to the concessions offered by the Sudanese government.

Speaking to reporters at Khartoum International  Airport ,after his arrival from the United States on Thursday, Al-Badawi described what had been  achieved in the visit as a major achievement, stressing compatibility with international institutions on a road map for the rehabilitation of Sudan.
