May 18, 2020 -Negotiations between  Sudan’s transitional  government
and the Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) on national issues kicked
off on Monday, via video conference, due to COVID-19 pandemic.
However, State of South Sudan mediation team, had earlier announced
that the signing of the peace agreement between the Sudanese
government and  SRF would take place on June 20, according to the
agreed upon matrix.
Speaking to reporters after the opening session, transitional
government spokesperson, Mohamed Alhasan Al-taishi, said that
agreement between SRF and the transitional would be inked on June 20.
Al-Taishi pointed out that today’s session was devoted to discussing
national issues and agreeing on them within three days, explaining
that the government’s delegation approach throughout the peace
negotiations focused on addressing issues of war and peace in Sudan on
two levels.
In a statement seen by Darfur24, SRF said negotiation on  national
issues is considered  a qualitative shift in the peace process,
stressing its intention to reach a peace agreement that gives hope to
the displaced, refugees and the marginalized people throughout Sudan.
