July 5, 2020 (El-Geneina) Number of victims of the violence in the
city of El-Geneina has risen to three fatalities and two injuries, due
to intense gunfire and detonation of hand grenades inside the city.
On Saturday, El-Geneina city had witnessed security tensions against
the background of the death of a person and the escape of the armed
perpetrators.
Darfur 24 correspondent reported that the incidents in El Geneina had
been renewed on Sunday, leaving two dead, bringing the death toll to
three.
“Light and heavy weapons were used in the violence, along with the
detonation of the hand grenades,” Darfur 24 reporter added.
He pointed out that the violence has turned into a tribal fight
between Masalit and Arabs. Meanwhile, riots erupted in the stock
exchange east of El Geneina by some outlaws, using white and heavy
weapons, amid reports of casualties.
