August 10, 2020 (Nyala) The Ministry of Health of South Darfur, has announced that it recorded a new case of polio in kass, South Darfur.
The director of the state’s Ministry of Health, Dr. Mohamed Idris told Darfur 24, that the case was recorded in Kass , south Darfur.
Mohamed Idris added that the patient had recently come from neighboring Chad.
Idris said, the ministry has sent a team to the area of the affected child to conduct the necessary investigation, and vaccination campaigns against poliovirus will follow in the coming days.
Sudan was declared polio-free in the year 2019 , as the last case was recorded in the year 2009, while the last case was recorded in South Darfur in 2007.
