The government of West Darfur state has declared a state of health emergency, following announcement by Ministry of Health of a wide spread of chikungunya disease in the state.
The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Mohammad Yahya, revealed in press statements on Monday that there was a significant increase in the incidence of the disease.
Yahya warned that the spread of the disease exceeded the capabilities of the State Ministry of Health, calling on the Federal Ministry of Health and organizations working in the health field to urgently
intervene to confront the situation.
For his part, the governor of West Darfur, Muhammad Abdullah Al-Duma,described the spread of the disease as disturbing.
