November 8, 2020 (Nyala) The University of Nyala has decided to suspend studies of the College of Medicine for an indefinite period due to the crisis that arose between the students and the administration of the College of Medicine due to the deterioration of the academic and environmental situation in the faculty.

Acting vice chancellor of Nyala university, Dr. Essam El Din Abakar Atim, issued a decision on saturday, suspending studies for an indefinitely, starting from Saturday.

The university vice chancellor stated that the suspension decision – which Darfur24 saw – was based on the university’s bylaws and the university’s council of deans issued on October 27th.

Students of the Faculty of Medicine have staged a sit-in in front of South Darfur government headquarters in Nyala since last Wednesday.

It’s noting that the students complain about the lack of a fixed calendar for the Faculty of Medicine since its inception in the year 2014, the absence of professors in the college and reliance on visiting professors

The decision stated that based on the recommendation of the College of Medicine Board on November 5 and the recommendation of the Board of Deans in its emergency meeting yesterday, Saturday, it was decided to suspend studies for all batches at the College of Medicine for an indefinite period.
