October 8, 2021 (Khartoum)The Troika countries (Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States) affirmed in a statement today their support for the Sudanese government’s efforts to resolve the protests in eastern Sudan, describing the serious impact of these protests on the country’s economy and the lives of its citizens.

The statement declared solidarity with the transitional government in calling for an end to the ongoing closure of ports and transport infrastructure in eastern Sudan, stressing that leaders in eastern Sudan should accept the government’s offer to address their grievances through a meaningful political dialogue instead of engaging in work that only leads to harming the national economy.

The statement also urged the international community to fully support the Sudanese government’s efforts to resolve this issue and end the ongoing protests.
