Khartoum, March 13(Darfur24) The United Nations Mission in Sudan, UNITAMS, called  on Saturday that those responsible for the violence in the country be held accountable, expressing concern over the killing of dozens of people in Jebel Moon, West Darfur, and two during peaceful demonstrations Thursday in Khartoum.

“Over the past week, the United Nations has received reports of violent incidents in and around Jebel Moon in West Darfur,” the head of the mission, Volker, said in a statement.

He added, “These incidents included the burning of villages and the killing of dozens of Sudanese, which represents another sign of the increasing instability in Sudan.”

He continued, “These incidents are taking place in Darfur at a time when violence continues in Khartoum, including the killing of two protesters during the demonstrations last Thursday.”

And he added, “The continued use of excessive force against the demonstrators must stop violence in all parts of Sudan, and those responsible must be held accountable.”
