El-Fashir, March 22 ( Darfur24) The Ministry of Education and Guidance in North Darfur State announced the suspension of secondary school studies today, Tuesday, in El Fasher, the state capital, for a period of six days, due to student protests that have been taking place in the city for several days, against the backdrop of the high price of bread.

Director General of the Ministry of Education and Guidance, Idris Mohamed Abdullah, told Darfur 24 that the students’ protests were triggered by   the high price of bread, which amounted to 50 pounds per piece.

The country is witnessing a rise in the prices of consumer goods and food grains.

According to Darfur24’s follow-up, the Sudanese government attributed the rise in flour prices in the country to the effects of the war waged by Russia on Ukraine, as Sudan imports its need of wheat from Russia and Ukraine.
