April 6, 2020 (Zalingei) Dean of the Faculty of Information, University of Al-Geneina, Dr. Faruq Ahmed Yahya was beaten with a hand by an element of the Military Intelligence Division at a petrol station in Zalingei city on Sunday .
Dr. Farouk Yahya told Darfur 24 that the assault was carried out in the tent of the military police and in front of audiences in the center of the city market, during a discussion with a soldier at the gas station, over arrangement of vehicles in the queue.
” A military intelligence officer, dressed in civilian clothes, tried to overtake all vehicles in the queue to get fuel without observing the arrangement, and when asked him to abide by the system, he lost temper, then asked the military police to take me to their tent that located by petrol station, before reaching the tent, I was beaten at different parts of my body” added Farouk Yahya.
The university professor indicated that he had filed a suit against the officer at Zalingei police station.
