El-Fashir, June 9(Darfur24)Traders and drivers of unlicensed vehicles
also known as   “Boko”in the city of El Fasher, capital of North
Darfur, organized a protest sit-in this morning, Wednesday, in front
of the state government headquarters, to oppose the decision of the
State Security Committee, which banned the movement of unlicensed
vehicles within the state and localities.

The representative of the merchants, Murshid Muhammad Abkar, explained
that the stand was a rejection of the decision, which he described as
unjust, and said that we were caught between “the hammer of livelihood
and the anvil of the government,” and that more than twenty thousand
cars operate within the state in trade and public transportation,
which became a source of livelihood.

Murshid called on the state government and the governor of the Darfur
region to find urgent solutions to the problem of these cars, and
stressed the readiness of the vehicle owners to reconcile their
situation if the government confirmed its desire to do so.

Murshid accused the Wali of North Darfur of reneging on his promise
when he last visited them at the car show to support and encourage
young people to trade across the border.

Yesterday, Tuesday, the State Security Committee carried out a wide
campaign to implement the decision to prevent the movement of
unlicensed cars on the state’s roads, as the activity included the
main markets and public roads in the state.
