Khartoum , April         25(Darfur24)Sudanese Defense Minister Yasin Ibrahim said that the authorities have taken several measures, including strengthening the security presence in West Darfur, by dispatching  forces to separate the parties and contain the situation, and the need to complete security efforts and arrangements, and continue to implement the provisions of the Juba Agreement for the peace of Sudan Sudan.

In addition to assigning delegation from the ruling sovereign council  to monitor the events to calm the situation, and the formation of a committee to address the humanitarian situation and develop an environment for the work of prosecutions and courts.

The Sudanese Security and Defense Council, headed by Abdel-Fattah Labrhan, head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, held an emergency session today, Monday, which dealt with the overall security situation in the country, in particular the events of West Darf.

Since last Friday, West Darfur state in the cities of El Geneina and Karinak has witnessed battles between Arab tribes and the Masalit tribe, in which more than 160 people were killed and dozens wounded, against the background of the killing of two shepherds last Friday near the city of Karinak.

The Minister of Defense indicated that the council listened to the reports of the specialized security services, in addition to identifying the reasons for the renewal of conflicts, which he described as having the same tribal nature, especially in the city of El Geneina and the locality of Karinak.

The minister stressed the intensification of patrols and the imposition of oversight on the public street to combat negative phenomena.

Pointing out that the Council decided to support the efforts of the civil administrations to preserve the social fabric and renounce the phenomenon of societal violence, and to direct national agencies and organizations to intensify humanitarian efforts, to distribute aid to those affected.
