Khartoum, April 25 (Darfur24) On Monday, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Sudan, Volker Britts, expressed his condemnation of the heinous killings of civilians and attacks on health facilities in Krinik, West Darfur, and called for an immediate cessation of violence in the region.

Volker offered his deepest condolences to the families of the dead and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

The UN representative urged the authorities and armed groups to be aware of their legal and international obligations regarding the protection of all civilians and civilian infrastructure, including health facilities, schools and water points .

According to the statement, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General Volker Perthes was briefed on the measures taken by the Sudanese Armed Forces today in this regard, which included a commitment to evacuate the wounded civilians, and calls for the rapid deployment of the joint security forces, in accordance with the requirements of the Juba Peace Agreement

He also called for a thorough and transparent investigation, the results of which will be made public, and in a way that contributes to identifying the perpetrators of violent acts and bringing them to justice.

He stressed that the United Nations in Sudan will remain ready to provide all assistance to those in need.
