Gedaref, March 28(Darfur 24)
On Thursday, the Deputy Commander of the Sudanese Army, Lieutenant General Shams al-Din Kabbashi, said those carrying political banners should be prevented from entering the popular resistance camps, stressing the necessity of control weapons and not distributing them outside the legal framework.

Addressing officers and soldiers from the army in the city of Gedaref, eastern Sudan, kabashi warned “popular resistance is not a political bazaar and must not be exploited for the benefit of a party.”

He added, “From today it is forbidden to photograph political banners. No politician enters the camp with a party banner or political slogan. Politics is outside the camps.”

Kabbashi stressed that “if the popular resistance is not controlled, it will be the next danger,” adding, “Weapons must be removed from the camps, and any citizen who wants to be armed comes to the camp and arm himself according to the law.”

He directed the military commanders of the military divisions to control weapons and uphold the law, saying that the popular resistance camps must not be exploited for political purposes, and anyone carrying a political banner must not enter the army camps, and photography is prohibited from today inside the camps.

In another context, Kabbashi confirmed that the army will not be part of the next authority, but will participate in the political dialogue that discusses security and military issues, explaining that “not participating in political authority is a covenant we made before the war and we are committed to it,” according to him.

He said, “War is not the basis, but the basis is peace, which is a human, moral and divine demand. We welcome any sincere call for peace, and we thank all the efforts of patriots at home and abroad, and the friends and neighboring countries who are working to solve Sudan’s problems, including the war.”
