Nyala June 6(Darfur24) The employees of the Ministry of Finance and
Economy in South Darfur gave the state government 72 hours to meet
their demands, or embark on  an open strike and stop financial
transactions in all state institutions, including the stock exchange.
Ministry employees organized a protest sit-in  Monday ,for the fourth
time in front of the ministry’s buildings, in which they raised
banners calling on the government to reform the salary structure and
implement the new structure.

The protesters’ demands included the differences in the new salary
structure from January, the payment of arrears from the meal allowance
for the previous four months, the payment of the cash alternative from
2020 AD until the current May, the clothing allowance for four months,
and the bonus  for Eid al-Fitr.

An employee in the ministry, Bahja Abdullah Abdullah, told Darfur 24
that today’s protest is the third since the start of the movement
without government agencies moving to find solutions, and confirmed
that the deadline will be after which the situation will be escalated
and an open strike will be launched in order to obtain rights, she
said.

A senior government official at the Ministry of Finance refused to
answer the newspaper’s questions, stressing that the matter concerns
the state government, while the governor of South Darfur did not
answer to the newspaper’s correspondent’s phone call.
