El-Geneina, August 2(Darfur24) The Ministry of Health in West Darfur state revealed new information about a case of monkeypox in Karinik locality, 80 km east of El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur state.

 

On Sunday, the Federal Ministry of Health announced the registration of the first confirmed case of monkeypox in Sudan, in West Darfur, of a 16-year-old student.

 

The Director-General of the Ministry of Health in West Darfur, Dr. Othman Ali, said in exclusive statements to Darfur 24 that a 16-year-old student had been infected with monkeypox in Karinak locality.

 

He stated that his health condition is constantly improving in a special isolation center in the Karinak area, pointing out that the State Ministry of Health has put in place all precautionary measures to prevent the spread of infection.

 

He said that the health team from the Federal Ministry has arrived in the state to find out on the ground the infection and help discover its source
