Kadugli, October 9(Darfur24)  The Misseriya youth association ,   has announced new escalatory steps after the closure of the Umm Adara field and the Nile and Petronas oil companies  last Thursday.

The union of oil workers said in a previous statement that the  closing of  Umm Adara oil field led to the suspension of the work of the PetroEnergy light crude oil pipeline, which transports about 6,5 thousand barrels of oil per day, equivalent to 14% of the crude percentage processed by old  Khartoum  refinery.

Farah Mohamed Farah, head of the youth body to support Misseriya issues, told Darfur 24 that they will  stage  a sit-in in Umm Adara area in order to release Misseriya herdsmen who have been detained by the SPLM since last April.

West Kordofan State is witnessing a border dispute between the Misseriya and Hamar tribes in the Al-Nuhud and Al-Sinout localities, which led to violence between the two tribes in the “Abu Zabad” locality last month.

Farah said that the regions of West Kordofan, which are located in the oil pipeline, suffer from the absence of development services, amid the citizens’ fears of disease outbreaks and environmental disasters resulting from oil extraction and refining operations.
