Khartoum, October 10(Darfur24) The defense team of the fifth suspect in the murder case   of Brigadier Ali Brima, Dr. Zainab Al-Amin, revealed that the Public Prosecution had accepted her request to release her client.

Head of the defense team, lawyer Mishaal Al-Zein, told Darfur 24 that the Public Prosecution approved the request because there was no preliminary evidence presented against it, in terms of the fact that his client was not present at the crime scene.

He added: The accusation leveled against her related to funding the revolutionaries is a “legitimate right” and she does not deny her connection to the current revolutionary movement, but she did not commit a murder.

The authorities arrested Dr. Zainab Al-Amin 3 times, and I brought charges against her under Article 107 of criminal cover-up.

Al-Zein said that the release of his client strengthens the position of the defense team in the course of the trial later, and stressed that the innocence of all suspecs  in the murder case  is a matter of time.

On the 6th of last October, the Supreme Court’s Department of Review upheld the decisions of the trial court and the appeals court to allow the defense committee to review the investigation report before it was read out by the investigator, and to present the accused to the medical commissioner to see if they had been tortured or not.

The trial sessions, which have been suspended since last June, are scheduled to resume due to the indictment’s objection to the defense’s requests to present the accused to a medical examination and review the investigation report, this October.

Authorities arrested Mohammed Adam Tupac, Ahmed Al-Fateh Al-Nannah, Muhammad Al-Fateh Terhaqa, Musab Al-Sharif and Dr. Zainab Al-Amin and charged them with the murder of Police Brigadier General Ali Brima Hammad on the 13th of last January
