Khartoum, October 12(Darfur24) The Federal Ministry of Health revealed the registration of about 150 suspected monkeypox cases, until late last month.

 

According to a report from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs OCHA on Wednesday, Darfur 24 obtained a copy of it, the Ministry of Health said that there were 147 suspected cases of monkeypox in 12 states until the end of last September.

 

The National Public Health Laboratory confirmed 17 cases, including the death of a 27-day-old infant, in West Darfur.

 

The first suspected case of monkeypox in Sudan was reported on May 22, 2022.

 

 Monkeypox is a zoonotic viral disease that can be transmitted from animals to humans. It is usually a self-limiting disease with symptoms lasting 2 to 4 weeks. The disease kills 3-6 percent of those infected.
