Kadugli,October 13(Darfur24)  On Thursday, police forces in South Kordofan thwarted an attempt by two inmates to escape from Kadugli prison suspected  of intentional murder under Article 130 of the Sudanese Criminal Code.

Police Captain Heba Hamad, from the General Department of the Prisons Police, said in statements to Darfur 24 that those awaiting trial this morning rioted while the prison was opened by the police, and tried to escape.

She stated that the police confronted them with live bullets, which resulted in the injury of two inmates who were taken to the police hospital for treatment.

Kadugli prison inmates protest against the length of the waiting period due to the delay in considering their complaints, which necessitated the judge of the Court of Appeal to pay a visit to the prison last week, and promised to speed up the hearings and bring them to trial.

This is the second attempt by inmates to escape from Kadugli prison, as the year 2021 witnessed similar incidents of inmates escape from prison that led to the killing one of them and injuring others.
