Nyala, November 28(Darfur24) The acting director general of the Ministry of Education and Guidance in the state of South Darfur, Salih Hamid Omar, said that  government schools in the state implemented  the strike announced by the Central Teachers Committee by 100%.

In a statement to Darfur 24, Salih called on the government to pay teachers’ dues so that the strikes would not affect the academic year.

 

Teachers in Sudan went on  a one-day strike to protest low wages, and to demand an increase in the minimum wage and the application of a unified salary structure.

 While the head of the Teachers Committee in South Darfur, Hashim Abdullah Zakaria, confirmed the implementation of the strike in all localities of the state, with teachers  reporting to schools and refraining from performing work.

 

 Zakaria told Darfur 24 that the government did not abide by Cabinet Resolution No. 363 to raise the minimum wage to 169,000 pounds.
