Khartoum, August 5(Darfur 24)The two past days witnessed direct targeting of human rights defenders in Sudan, particularly, lawyers , where three of them were killed Friday in Omdurman and Nyala, the provincial capital of South Darfur state
According to emergency lawyers media, “the Sudanese Bar Association was shocked on Friday by the tragic loss of a number of colleagues and human rights defenders (Dr. Mohamed Mursal Mustafa who lost his life after his house in Omdurman was shelled Friday and Abdullah Morgani who died Friday when his residence was bombarded .
The emergency lawyers added that the abduction and assassination of lawyer , Ahmed Abdallah in Nyala is considered the ugliest violations against human rights defenders after his abductors demanded random for his release, according to statement seen by Darfur 24, emergency lawyers , that abductors were likely to be RSF affiliates.
Emergency lawyers have called on International and regional organisations to protect civilians and particularly human rights defenders, as they work hard to monitor and document violations of human rights in an extremely difficult and risky security situation a matter that makes them target for the parties to the conflict.
We believe in importance of human rights defenders work as they pressure the two parties to to stop violations of human rights and realize justice and impunity.
