Adekong , 4 Septemper(Darfur 24) A Darfur24 tour of the border strip between Sudan and Chad revealed a smooth flow of commercial movement between the two countries, with no stringency in entry and exit procedures through the Chadian Adre border crossing.

Chad closed its borders with Sudan, following eruption of clashes between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces in mid-April in Khartoum, however, the Chadian authorities did not officially announce the opening of its border with Sudan.

Last June, Chad received more than 200,000 Sudanese refugees as a result of the armed clashes that took place in the city of El Geneina.

A Darfur 24 correspondent said that there was a noticeable flow in the movement of food supplies into the city of El Geneina from the Adre border crossing, which led to a significant decrease in the prices of food items in the markets of the “Adekong” area, which in turn supplies the markets of the city of El Geneina.

The Adikong area, which is located less than 100 kilometers from the Sudanese border, witnesses purchasing activity in its weekly market on Friday.
