New York, September 13 (Darfur 24) The United Nations Security Council will hold a session on Wednesday during which it will hear the quarterly report of the United Nations Integrated Mission to Support the Transition in UNITAMS.

The Sudanese Committee concerned with Sudan’s issues at the United Nations held a meeting on Tuesday, headed by a member of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber, to discuss Sudan’s position regarding the decisions that will emerge from the UN session.

Darfur 24 learned that more than 50 international human rights organizations will submit a request to the UN Security Council during the meeting to form an international committee to investigate the violations taking place in Sudan against civilians.

Local and international human rights and journalistic reports documented widespread violations against civilians committed in Khartoum and Darfur since the outbreak of war last April.
