Zalingei, October 31(Darfur 24) The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced that they had seized the army command in Central Darfur state in the early hours of Tuesday morning after battles that had continued since yesterday morning.

The RSF Commander of Central Darfur Sector, Ali Yaqoub, said – in a video allegedly from inside the headquarters of the 21st infantry Division, obtained by Darfur24 – that they seized the command of the 21st Infantry Division and were able to arrest the division commander, along with 50 officers of various ranks.

RSF deputy commander, Abdul Rahim Dagalo, arrived in the city of Zalingei after taking control of the command of the 16th Infantry Division in Nyala, the largest army headquarters in the Darfur region, and they gave the command of the 21st Division two days to surrender or be attacked.

Darfur 24 learned that the process of seizing control of the army division’s command took place without resistance, and thus the Rapid Support Forces tightened their control over large parts of the region.
