Port Sudan, Nov26(Darfur 24)The head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, said that the priority now is for all parties to seek to stop the war in Sudan and for the Sudanese to return to their normal lives, and then to begin a political process that will move Sudan to a transitional phase led by the Sudanese with Sudanese solutions.

Al-Burhan stated that he discussed with Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Qibla during the discussions he held with him on Sunday how IGAD could contribute to stopping the war by advancing existing initiatives, whether it was the Jeddah Platform or the IGAD Initiative.

Al-Burhan stated that his visit to Djibouti came from the standpoint of the bonds of brotherhood and friendship between the peoples of the two countries, in addition to Djibouti’s leadership of the IGAD organization. He added: There are several platforms that tried to find solutions to the Sudanese dilemma, but we have great confidence in our regional society and our regional organizations that they can contribute to finding the solutions that enable us. Sudanese that we regain our unity, security and peace.

Al-Burhan expressed his thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for establishing the Jeddah Platform, which he said provided good solutions in its beginnings. If we continue and insist on implementing them, it will get us out of the spiral of this war.

Media outlets quoted the President of Djibouti as telling Al-Burhan that he supports stopping the war and fighting and returning to normal life in Sudan.

Al-Burhan also met with the Executive Secretary of IGAD, “Warqani Qibihu,” and they discussed the progress of the indirect negotiations in the Jeddah platform and the obstacles that stand in the way of reaching an agreement. They agreed on the importance of holding a summit of IGAD heads soon in Djibouti to set a clear road map to end the crisis in Sudan.

The Sovereignty Council media indicated that Al-Burhan stopped at Asmara airport during his return and discussed with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Sudan and Eritrea.

In recent weeks, Al-Burhan began to review his negative positions towards some African countries and organizations, as last week he visited the country of Kenya, which he accused of siding with the Rapid Support Forces, which has been waging a war against the Sudanese army since last April 15.
