A high-ranking Sudanese army Commander told Darfur 24 that inquiry council investigating the withdrawal of the First Infantry Army Division from Wad Madani couldn’t take statement of the main suspects, who were still missing.

The Sudanese army had formed council of inquiry to probe withdrawal of the first infantry army division that enabled the Rapid support forces to capture and control Aljazeera state in central Sudan that witnessed unprecedented human rights violations.

According to source the council was not able to take statement of the main suspects , the Army commander of the captured 1rs infantry Division colonel Murtada and others, the sources said the army lost contact with them since the fall of wad Madani.

The source told Darfur 24 that the division Commander General Ahmed Altayeb and the second Commander lieutenant colonel Ihab Fathi were detained in Sinnar after being investigated.

The senior Army officers who were investigated included operations officer colonel Osman Takina and intelligence commander colonel Abdelhameed Awad

Rapid support forces RSF captured Wad Madani on December 19 without any resistance following withdrawal of the Army to the neighboring Sinnar state
