February 6, 2020 (Khartoum) Al-Sadiq al-Mahdi, head of the National Umma Party, has criticized the justification of Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, for his meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister in the Ugandan city of Entebbe earlier this week.
Speaking to reporters Thursday, the Head of Umma party said that the transitional political situation in Sudan does not allow individual initiatives. Meanwhile he declared his categorical refusal to normalize relations with Tel Aviv.
“The deal of the century has closed the door of normalization with Israel, and made it impossible” noted Al-Sadiq al-Mahdi .
Al-Mahdi affirmed that his party’s position, is to completely close the door of normalization with Israel.
“Dealing with Israel must be based on restoring rights to owners” Added the Umma Party leader.
The former prime minister, stressed that normalization with Israel is not in the transitional period ,because it is a stage of compromise not for contentious decisions, adding that the armed forces are included in this equation by mistake.
“The armed forces must remain a respectable institution” further added Al-Mahdi.
The prime minster who was toppled by Al-Bashir regime in 1989, described the talk about Sudan benefiting from normalization with Israel as “a great illusion”, noting that Tel Aviv itself is suffering from internal problems.
