Sudan and the United States of America have agreed to enhance security cooperation and coordination between the two countries, as well as  boosting  bilateral agreements in the areas of training, capacity building, forensic work and internal security.

Brian Shawkan, the US Chargé d’Affaires in Sudan, the Security Attaché and Director of the Regional Security Bureau, Andrew Johnson, held a meeting with the Sudanese Minister of Interior in Khartom on Sunday.

According to the police commissioner , Adil Bashar ,the meeting comes within the framework of strengthening police cooperation between Sudan and the United States of America on issues of concern to both countries especially the joint cooperation, information exchange, training, and forensic evidence.  Adil Bashar stressed that the meeting represents a prelude to many aspects of cooperation that are in the interest of the Sudanese police and the enhancement of their capabilities, adding that the Sudanese police are able to carry out the duties and tasks of internal security operations with their accumulative experiences. Adil  revealed measures taken by the Sudanese police to control the movement of travelers through airports, gateways and borders, and to monitor them using technology in all police activities to reduce smuggling and transit crime.  For his part, the American Chargé d’Affaires indicated that they looked forward to more cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Interior, by building a tight relationship based on solid foundations..
