June 2, 2020 -Darfur Bar Association (DBA) on Tuesday held West Darfur authorities and security services responsible for the growing phenomenon of kidnappings and enforced disappearances of people in the villages of voluntary return and Misteri area, with the aim of obtaining ransom.
However, DBA emphasized that the state is witnessing regular attack on villages, practice of systematic killing alongside looting as well as robbery and kidnapping to compel the kidnappers ’families to pay
ransom, while the state government is failing to enforce the law.
In a statement seen by Darfur 24, DBA called on the state authorities to take the necessary measures to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to deterrent trials and impose the state’s authorities and work
to prevent the recurrence of these incidents.
Meanwhile the transitional government called maintain security situation in the region as well as working hard to ensure public safety and protect the displaced and civilians.
